The Problem Solvers surveyed Jericho Middle School about 3 types of food categories (Pizza, Sushi, and Dessert).  We tasted the 2 most popular in each category as Jericho’s very own food critics.

Pizza (Blaze’s Meat Eaters Pie or Simple Cheese Pie?)
Meat Eaters Pie
  • the crust was crunchy
  • the sauce was sweet and had texture
  • we had mixed reviews about the onions
  • the meat was a mixture of crumbled meatballs and pepperoni.  It was very delicious, but a bit salty.
Simple Cheese Pie
  • the crust was thin and slightly burnt, which made it too crunchy
  • there was not much taste to this pizza compared to the Meat Eater’s Pizza
  • there was a perfect amount of sauce and cheese
Blaze’s pizza pies are made in 11 inch personal pizzas.  The Problem Solvers Group would rather a regular sized pizza pie.  Blaze’s pizza tastes similar to Subway pizza.
And the winner is... Blaze's Meat Eater's Pie!

Sushi - Ruby Sushi or Sawa Sushi?
Ruby Sushi
Salmon Avocado Roll
  • Chewy
  • Not too much taste
  • Great combination
Sweet Potato Roll
  • Too much potato
  • Sweet
  • Bitter aftertaste
California Roll
  • Good texture
  • Some aftertaste
  • Avocado was well ripened
Sawa Sushi
Salmon Avocado Roll
  • Roll overall was much softer
  • Not much salmon taste
  • Had a much tastier sauce
Sweet Potato Roll
  • Very sweet
  • Much crunchier
  • Less tempura taste
California Roll
  • Rice was softer
  • More tastier with no aftertaste
  • More chewy
And the winner is... Sawa Sushi!

Dessert- Acai Bowls or Carvel Flying Saucers?
Acai Bowls
  • tastes fruity and tart
  • the bananas and berries give it more of a sweet flavor
  • the granola was crunchy
  • the acai made the banana a bit mushy
  • the coconut flakes made it much more tastier
  • the honey added more sweetness

Carvel Flying Saucers (chocolate cookie with vanilla/chocolate ice cream)
  • the cookie smelled great and tasted delicious
  • the cookie was very crunchy and had a creative design
  • the ice cream was smooth and fluffy
  • the crunchy cookie and smooth ice cream complimented each other very well
  • Eating this dessert can be very messy. Quick Tip – Eat it fast!

And the winner is... Carvel Flying Saucers!

Chipotle was founded by Steve Ells on July 13, 1993. The company uses healthy ingredients with low calories and they don't put MSG in their foods. Steve Ells opened the restaurant to see if Americans would eat Mexican food and to make people eat healthier but still enjoy the food.

In 1998, the first restaurant opened in Kansas City, Missouri. To fund more growth, Ells’ father invested $1.5 million. In a list of fastest growing restaurant chains in 2009, Chipotle was ranked 8th. Ells’ original goal was to sell at least 107 burritos per day. Today Chipotle sells approximately 1000 burritos a day.
